Further Information
"The Foundation chose RMIT for the SIDA Travelling Scholarship because of our long association with RMIT through the Melbourne College of Decoration and Design," says Mr Stewardson (SIDA Treasurer).
The college became part of RMIT in 1993. The Head of the School of Design (TAFE), Hendrikus Berkers, studied at the college and taught there part-time. The benefit of the SIDA scholarship says Mr Berkers, is that it will provide RMIT teaching staff from the program of Decoration and Design the opportunity to travel overseas and benchmark globally. "The experience and knowledge gained will feed back into the teaching and learning environment, preparing our students as work-ready graduates," he says.
